Fun At The Water Playground

We took Haylie and Cayden to a water playground this past week in Parkland. They had a blast as you can see from the video. The water was freezing- watch as Cayden looses his breath when he touches it. Anything to do with water is complete fun in their eyes... beach, pool, bath, or shower is enjoyment for them. We actually participated in a 2 month swimming program this summer. It was good exposure for them- they put their heads under water, jumped into the pool, learned to hold their breath, and hold on to the side of the pool. Soon we'll do REAL swim lessons.

We were able to catch these two in one of their "moments". Haylie is really a good big sister. Yes, she does push, kick and hit her brother on a daily basis it seems, but she also is compassionate and protective of him too. She calls him "Tayden", but mostly refers to him as "Buddy" which I think is so cute!

Strawberry Picking at Knaus Berry Farm

This month has been all about strawberry picking. We discovered a farm in Miami that has apparently been around for ages that has strawberry and tomato picking. I was sooo excited to go and take the kids because one of my fondest memories as a child was strawberry picking with my parents. We went the first week of February with some friends from the ward and had a BLAST! I had told Haylie the night before of our plans and discussed with her that we only pick the red ones, not the green ones and we do not eat the strawberries until we wash them. When Matt went to get her in the morning from her crib the first thing that popped out of her mouth was " No pick the green ones Daddy." She was obviously anticipating the fun! Unfortunately only 50% of our conversation soaked in because it only took about 2 minutes for Haylie and Cayden to start chowing down. I couldn't blame them though...they were quite irresistible! So just this week, we went a second time and brought Grandma and Papa. I was smart this time and brought bibs for the messy eaters. The farm also sells homemade cinnamon buns, ice cream shakes, breads and pies. It's such a fun place to visit! Definitely want to make it a yearly family tradition.
